These handy pre-pitched tents, give you the freedom of getting back to nature and enjoying a camping trip, without the hassle of having to set everything up. So your holiday can start as soon as you arrive on site, and you can head straight to the river for a refreshing dip!
The tents include:- 2 separate sleeping areas: 1 double bedroom with a double bed, 1 bedroom with 3 single beds.
Please bring your own bed linen.
A fully equipped kitchenette, and dining area- Electricity - handy to charge all of your gadgets and electronics- Outdoor furniture allowing you to enjoy the joys of 'al fresco' dining!
La Chatonniere is situated in a peaceful spot in the Dordogne, not far from the Limousin border. The campsite is a quiet haven, with no noisy distractions such as bars or pools: the site enjoys a a 'back to nature' ethos where the great outdoors and river are entertainment enough. A child-friendly sandy beach gives access to the river which runs along the site, allowing children and adults to swim and splash around in the sun. You can mess about on the river in rowing boats or build campfires on the river banks from wood gathered from the nearby forest. An outdoor play area with a badminton field, volley ball field and 'jeu de boules' can also be enjoyed. Don't forget to try out one of the nature trails, which are all well sign-posted, or for those that prefer exploring on two wheels, mountain bikes can also be hired at the campsite.
Local shops, restaurants and bars can all be found within walking distance in the local village of Jumilhac-le-Grand. A wsimming pool and tennis court are also nearby.
Campfires, river swimming, tranquility and plenty of space - a stay at La Chatonniere will leave you feeling relaxed, recharged and wanting to come back!
Please note that there will be a tourist tax of € 0.20 per person / per night (from 18 years old) and an eco-tax of € 0.22 per person / per night to be paid onsite.

Features & Facilities

We have thre modern sanitary blocks, one of which is heated including facilites for person with reduced mobility, a family bathroom, two baby bath spaces, washine machine and dryer and a covered washing up space.

There is WIFI throughout the campsite, fresh bread every morning, a small shop and a tourist information ofice.

There is badminton court. a trampoline, ping-pong table, pool table, football table, children's paly areas and an outdoor fitness area with a view of the river.

Bikes, go-karts, canoes and kayaks are available on site. You will also be able to buy a fishing license at the campsite reception and fish in the river.

Kids will be able to enjoy board games from our library. Small children can play on the nearest beach while all other swimmers will be allowed in the river.

Activities

The campsite is located on the route followed by Richard the Lionheart and on road toward Santiago de Compostela.

Today it is well indicated as the "The route of the castles" so if you want to visit some cstles youa re in the right place.

The Jumilhac-le-Grand castle (0033 6 09 61 78 40) is the closest and is also known as the Black Pearl"of Perigord-Vert because of its distinctive black tile roof. The complex gardens are also worth exploring.

Our campsite is situated within the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park (0033 5 53 55 36 00). Many walks are well marked and you can easily cycle.

Food & Drink

You can buy ice cream, drinks, homemadepizza to go, fries and snacks in the small shop on site as well as fresh bread to order each morning.
Off site however on the main square of Jumilhac-le-Grand castle try the charming little restaurant of Lou Boueiradour (0033 5 53 52 50 47) traditional French cuisine.

Getting There

Depuis le rond-point de Jumilhac-le-Grand (il n'y en a qu'un), prendre la D79 nord en direction de La Coquille. 500 mètres après le rond-point, tournez à gauche. Après 100 mètres vous arriverez à l'entrée du camping. The nearest train station is in Saint Yrieix-la-Perche, but it's 12 km from the site so you'll need a lift (or a taxi) from there.
