Features & FacilitiesExcellent shower and toilet blocks, cleaned 3 times a day, including spacious family bathrooms, baby changing and disabled facilities. There is a swimming and paddling pool with a pleasant poolside area, café-restaurant (open daily July / August and weekends out of peak season), bar (open until 11pm) and a reception area with a small shop and plenty of tourist information. Swings, table tennis, table football, badminton, volleyball and boules, plus an indoor lounge area with board and card games and a television. There is no Wi-Fi on site but a computer with internet is available (if you must). No campfires.
ActivitiesThe remote feel of the campsite does come at a cost – you'll have to hop in the car to find the nearest supermarket and there aren't really any shops within walking distance, so remember to stock up. For country persuits, however, it's ideal. There are bikes available to rent and you can quickly link up with a long distance cycle route that takes you straight to Perigueux, home to several excellent museums. Brantome, popular for boat and canoe rental for paddling on the Dordogne, and Bourdeilles, for its maginificent castle (00 33 5 53 05 65 65), are also worth a visit.
Food & DrinkThe café-restaurant opens for breakfast or you can order fresh bread and pastries the evening before, collect it in the morning and eat it back at the tent. Meals generally start at around €10 and there are freshly produced pizzas (made with organic flour and tomatoes) cooked in a wood-fired oven. BBQs are available for anyone to use in the communal areas dotted around the site.
From Bordeaux, take the A89 and follow Périgueux, then take exit 15 for Agen/Périgueux-Centre. Follow the D6021, then take the D8 for 10km. Then turn right onto the D69 and continue for 2 km. You'll see signs at the campsite entrance.
