Set on the hillside overlooking the Loire and the forest beyond, Huttopia Saumur, really gives you a sense of being close to nature, whilst in the heart of this historic UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Nestled amongst the trees, these family friendly canvas tents are the perfect place for family holidays, of up to five people!
There is a large and spacious living/dining area, with a fully kitted out kitchenette, and your very own private shower and toilet facilities.Sleeping quarters are: one double bedroom, and a second bedroom with three single beds (bunk beds and a single).
Please bring your own bedding or hire these as an additional extra.
The large wooden terrace with its awning is the perfect setting for al fresco dining any time of the day.
Order your bread and pastries the night before, so you can wake up to freshly baked bread and breakfast treats, delivered by the local bakery – the perfect way to start your day!
During the key summer months (July and August) the campsite hosts a Kids Club with a range of craft and game activities, or enjoy a fun evening with musical acts or the open-air film night.
There is plenty to do on site with a choice of two swimming pools, one heated covered pool, and the other exterior pool. You can kick back and relax in a sun lounger or enjoy some shade under a parasol, whilst lounging around pool side.
There is also a miniature farm on site, and a well equipped children's play area, pétanque, volleyball, table football and table tennis. There are also family activities to be enjoyed in the summer (July and August) including cookery classes, wine tasting (grape juice for the children!) and sports activities.
Don't forget to hire some bikes (available to hire from reception) to explore this beautiful area along the Loire Valley, or for those seeking further thrills enjoy some hiking in the hills, or some canoeing down the Loire.
There is a snack bar on site, serving ice cold drinks, ice creams and serving up home made pizzas for you to enjoy on the terrace overlooking the Loire, or for you to enjoy as a take away!
The central Lodge is situated in the main stone building and is open year round. You can enjoy the library corner and curl up with a book, or play some board games, or simply enjoy a drink with family and newly made friends. There is also a tourist information point here, and you can also purchase tokens for the laundry block.
There is a small grocery store on site, however the nearest village of Saint Hillaire Saint Florent has a post office, bank, chemist, Doctors surgery, newsagent and a choice of restaurants.
Venture just 6km down the road to the historic town of Saumur and you'll find a great choice of restaurants, bars and a market. The town is also home to one of the region's more impressive châteaux, a world famous equestrian centre, and the Loire's finest vineyards (it would be downright rude not to sample some, now wouldn't it?). The Loire Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for good reason and, although there are no shortage of ways to savour its delights, we suggest you pack a picnic, get on your bike, find a secluded spot and soak up the scene.

The site includes 4 modern, frequently cleaned shower blocks (including a heated one) with large cubicle spaces making it ideal for families. You'll also find male and female toilets and baby changing, electricity hook-ups, a laundry with washing machines and dryers and free Wi-Fi throughout. Plenty of activities onsite including 3 swimming pools (one covered and heated), free kids club and miniature farm, children's play area, miniature golf, wine tasting (July and August), bike hire (from €10 a day).
The Loire Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with good reason. Canoe expeditions, cycling, and visits to local vineyards can all be arranged through the site. Visit the historic town of Saumur 6km away to see the stunning château and the world-famous Cadre Noir National Equestrian Centre.
Food & Drink
There's an onsite bar/brasserie with a sun terrace. You can also order takeaway. The small grocers shop is stocked with fresh bread baked and other local produce, including wine from the vineyard, and boasts a vegetable garden for fresh seasonal fruit and veg. For a night on the town, head to Bistrot Les Tontons (0033 2 41 59 59 40) in Saumur for tasty regional fare and local vino.
3/4 miles west of Saumur. Take the D161, then D751 on the south bank of the river westwards, signed towards Gennes. The campsite is on the left hand side between the villages of Le Pointrineau and La Croix (approximately 3 3/4 miles from N147 junction). Alternatively, cross the river from the north on the N147, take the turn off for St Hilaire-St Florent and find the D751 for Gennes. The site is signposted off the D751 (also signed La Croix).
There is a train station in the town of Saumur 6 km away.
