The Owner Says

Tucked away in the middle of the woodland stands this cosy little retro caravan, ideally suited to 2 people.
There is a sleeping area inside for 2 people, and outside you can benefit from your private terrace and a hammock swinging from the trees. A perfect way to enjoy a sunny afternoon snooze, with nothing but the sounds of the leaves rustling above.
As the name suggests 'Le Grand Bois' is set amongst a peaceful haven of beautiful trees 650 meters above sea level, creating a quiet and relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life, surrounded by stunning views of the rugged mountains of the Drome region. This little corner of paradise has plenty to offer whilst maintaining the 'rural' feel.
A sunny pool complete with sun loungers and a baby pool will keep little and big people happy, whilst the more active can enjoy some cycling in this majestic landscape and take on some of the famous Tour de France stages, rafting and canoeing are also great to try out in this pictureque setting.
A bread service is offered on site, as well as a small bar and terrace, overlooking the pool area and woodland.

Features & Facilities

Most pitches located in the woods are in a natural setting and offer plenty of shade and privacy, with a few spots out in the sun if that's what you're after. Safari tents feature proper beds (bedding provided) individual curtained rooms, a large living area and an outdoor kitchen area with gas hobs and fridge. Water points are all close by and good shower facilities, toilets and a laundry room are all a short stroll away. Swimming pool and smaller toddlers pool, playground, volleyball, wi-fi, fresh bread service (order before 6pm). Bar (4pm–10pm) serving light bites and hot and cold drinks. Gas BBQs permitted but no campfires.

Keen mountain cyclists can take on the challenge of Mont Ventoux and the Vercors, infamous climbs from the Tour de France – there's bike storage on site – while hiking is probably the most popular activity in the area. In the local village of Bourdeaux there is a tourist office (0033 4 7553 3590), which is always a good place to start.

Food & Drink

Table d’hôte dinners, pizzas and breakfasts are all available making use of the small on-site bar (open 4pm–10pm). Stuffed ravioli is the local speciality. Auberge de l’Estang (0033 4 7576 0570) in Saoû is a good place to start or head to the local village of Bourdeaux for a few options; there's Bar Restaurant du Centre (0033 4 7553 3582), unsurprisingly located in the middle of town, and cute little Restaurant Le Goustarou (0033 4 7553 3079). There's also a mini Casino Supermarket (0033 4 7553 3132) for groceries and a weekly market in Dieulefit on Fridays.
