ActivitiesWhile the campsite's wooden cabins are open in winter time – skiers and snowboarders on the hunt for a budget break take note – the surrounding pistes and mountains turn into a mountain bikers delight in summer, with chairlifts re-opened so that you can shuttle yourself and your bike up the slopes before freewheeling back down. Try Courchevel, Meribel or nearby Champagny-en-Vanoise for the nearest mountain biking options with lifts available. If you're big on watersports, you'll find Bozel well equipped for booking kayaking and rafting adventures on the nearby Doron and Isère rivers. You can also buy permits in town for fishing (brown, rainbow and brook trout in abundance). For hikers, there are two decent footpaths immediately from the campsite. One takes you round the western side of Courchevel to the village of Moulin de Burtin, the other to the thermal springs at Brides-les-Bains. For something more demanding, take the trail from Villemartin (30-minute drive) and hike up Mont Jovet, rewarding you with impressive views of Mont Blanc and the Vanoise National Park, or just go straight to the latter, where some 500 kilometres of trails offers endless opportunities. The tourist information centre in Champagny-en-Vanoise (10-minute drive) is a good place to get your bearings.
Food & DrinkFresh bread and croissants can be ordered at reception each day for delivery the next morning. It’s a two-minute walk from the campsite into Bozel, where there's a decent spread of staple French shops – a bakery, butchery, pharmacy and Spar supermarket. It's a 15-minute drive back along the valley to the main Super-U supermarket and a minute or so further into Moûtiers, the valley's main, functional hub for supermarkets and outlets. You can also have a tour of the cheese cellars there and sample Savoy’s seven great cheeses at the market.
