The Owner Says

Timeless, soaring, elemental…

Staying in a traditional Tipi feels uplifting. Their beauty is timeless, their majestic presence adds soul to any outdoor event. Their interiors are spacious with ample head room for even the tallest of guests. Being inside a tipi, constructed entirely from natural materials, experiencing this spaciousness and the simplicity of its design, is a magical feeling few tents can match.

Tipis are iconic structures, stretching high up to the sky, providing lots of interior space and when rolled up at the side, plenty of light too. To spend time in a Tipi is to return to a simpler, more elemental way of living; Tipis embrace nature. Unlike modern tents, their entrances do not zip shut, their ground sheets are not fully sealed. Instead, they have an inner liner to keep out any draughts whilst allowing the structure to stay ventilated.

Tipis are extremely stable in strong winds with steep sides to shed heavy rain. In warm weather the sides can be rolled up and opened to create a graceful merging with the exterior space.

Our site offers washing blocks, compost toilets and hot showers. You will not be able to drive your car into the camping fields, there is a free car park.

Commitment to Sustainability: Our tipis are made in Pilton, Somerset, at Hearthworks Tipis, by local crafts people. Many of the materials used are biodegradable; the wooden frames, tipi poles, tent pegs, pure wool felt covers, coconut matting. Tipi poles are all made from local, sustainably sourced wood. The covers are sewn from robust long-lasting polycotton canvas.
