Bespoke Shepherds Hut sleeping two people. A King Size bed fills the sleeping area with feather pillows and warm feather filled 13.5 tog duvet. A kitchenette provides small sink area, mini-oven, mini-fridge, kettle, cafetierre, crockery, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans. There is a fold down table and two elm wood chairs with blankets for those chilly nights. A wood-burning stove provides additional heat, where you can toast marshmallows or just listen to the fire crackle! There is a small private garden area planted with beautiful bamboo and hedging with garden furniture and BBQ leading to a private wet-room. Amazing views looking across farmland to the Atlantic Ocean. Sorry no pets. Towels are provided at no extra charge. We have alternative bedding for feather allergy sufferers, just let us know!
Features & FacilitiesAblutions block housing showers, toilets, a disabled and family wet room, baby changing facilities, hair dryers and electrical shaving sockets, a washing up room and laundry room. There is an outside washing up area, a small shop open during peak season and freezers you can use for ice packs. Bricks for BBQs are available to borrow. There is a rubbish and recycling point, Free Wi-Fi and chemical waste disposal for motor-homes. Fire Pit hire, logs, kindling and charcoal can all be purchased on site.
ActivitiesThe beaches are the main attraction; Praa Sands,Porthleven and Rinsey are the nearest – all are popular surf spots, with Praa Sands ideal for families, while Porthleven can have stronger currents so is sometimes best left to the pros. RNLI lifeguards are on watch throughout summer holiday season. It's around a mile and a half to the South West Coastal Path, from which all beaches can be reached or, of course, you can continue along miles of the coastline. For a little culture, two of the best National Trust properties are within easy reach – the tidal island of St Michaels Mount (01736 710507) and grand Godolphin House and Gardens(01736 763194) – both 15–20 minutes by car.
Food & DrinkA small onsite shop sells local bacon and sausages, bread, eggs, milk and other essentials during peak season. There is a pub in Ashton (01736 763227) – serving traditional pub grub – that's about a 15 minute walk away. There's another in Breage (01326 564229), about 30 minutes' walk or a 5 minute drive. Amenities at Praa Sands beach include the Sandbar (01736 763516) and Beachcomber Cafe (01736762977), while nearby Porthleven has the greatest number of bars, pubs and restaurants with some of the best chefs in the county.
Following the A394 from either Helston or Penzance. From the Helson direction take the right turn signposted, "Tresoweshill, Godolphin, Balwest", which is just past the Lion & Lamb pub. Follow the lane approximately half a mile and the campsite entrance is on the left, there is a bench and a blue milk churn by the entrance. If coming from Penzance, as you reach the Watson garage on your right look out for the small church on your left, turn left here and follow the directions above. We do not recommend using SatNav as you near Ashton. Buses run from Falmouth to Penzance and stop at the Lion & Lamb Pub (Ashton) and at Tresowes Green. Both bus stops around 15 minutes' walk from the site. The nearest train station is Penzance (0845 748 4950). Newquay Airport is approximately 40 miles and 1hours drive.
