How often do you get to stay in a hand-built home? At Westland Farm you can enjoy camping or glamping whilst feeling like you’re part of a working farm.

For city dwelling campers especially, there are few things that bring the reality of camping home as much as taking a stroll through a dewy early morning field to use a shower block. Pausing to inhale the clear air, still scented with the smoky fragrance of last night’s campfire, while watching the mist rising off the rolling fields, even the most jaded urbanite can’t fail to be stirred.

Westland Farm is the perfect place for such epiphanies: a beautifully tranquil glamping and camping site that looks out over a small lake surrounded by rolling, sheep-dotted hills. There’s a variety of accommodation too, ranging from back-to-basic tent pitches in a lush, grassy field to a brilliant shepherd’s hut set in a quiet corner at the top of the farm. Close to the loos and showers, and nestled next to a babbling brook, the shepherd's hut comes complete with a five-foot double bed and small child bunk bed and airbed (if you need it) – perfect for a family of four. Then there’s the giant yurt that comfortably sleeps six and a hand-built, grass-roofed Drover’s Hut (sleeping a further six and boasting its very own hot-tub), with a kitchen that houses a wood-fired oven and gas hob, set in its own private corner next to the stream. You can even snag a B&B room in the farmhouse if the outdoor life is not for you.

A beautiful spot, and perfect for both a romantic getaway and a family escape from the urban jungle, Westland Farm has a little something for everyone. Basic camper? Home-from-home glamper? Just pick the spot that's right for you.

The Owner Says

Set amidst the lush, rolling countryside of North Devon, on the edge of Exmoor National Park and close to some truly spectacular beaches, ancient market towns and country pubs, Westland Farm is a little piece of heaven we wish to share with you. We are a small friendly site, and wish to keep it that way.  We allow plenty of space for camping, no crowded fields even at the busiest times and some beautiful views of the countryside.  We welcome families who we love to show our animals to, explain how they are kept and welcome help with feeding time.  During the lambing season, which we plan around the Easter Holidays, guests are welcome in the lambing shed to watch and even help if they wish, there are often tame lambs to bottle feed and the more hands on types have even helped to bring new lambs into the world.  We are responsible for several young people who now have an ambition to become farmers, after helping in the lambing shed during their holiday here.

Accommodation

Shepherd’s Hut, Yurt, Drover’s Hut (with a wood fired hot-tub), plus 5 undesignated grass pitches set within the scenic camping field.

A fantastic addition to an already brilliant campsite

Having stayed as a camper many times, we were excited to experience the Yurt for the first time - and we were NOT disappointed! It's a really lovely place to stay - we had two kids with us, but it would be even nicer as a romantic get-away. The new log-fired hot tub is amazing, the kitchen and toilet are a real luxury and the location is faultless. Highly recommended!!

Lovely setting

We stayed in the yurt and thoroughly recommend it. Comfortable beds and gorgeously cosy with the log burner going. Really lovely with the animals close by.

Beautiful laid back glamping

Nicky was really accommodating for our visit. We hired the yurt and the huts and others joined us in tents, campers and caravans and it was perfect for the occasion. Family friendly fun in beautiful surroundings. All accommodations more than up to scratch and lovely new shower block. Plenty of space for bbqs, fires etc. Plenty of opportunity to feed animals/ collect eggs if you speak to owners although we didn’t make the most of it as ran out of time!

An amazing Easter Mini Break!!!!

We've just recently stayed in the Drover's Hut, and it was perfect!! You really are part of the farm. Nicky, Andy and Will, were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The views are breathtaking and we literally shared a field with the sheep and their beautiful lambs. The Drover's Hut has a brand new bathroom, which is amazing and the main shower and toilet block is clean and lovely and hot!! There's plenty of beautiful places to visit locally, but we loved hanging out at the hut with the woodburner roaring and taking a dip in the hot tub. We wish we had longer, but will definitely be returning!!!
