This lorry is fully equipped accommodation for 2 people (adults only, no pets). It is sited at the top of the field with stunning views of the sea and opposite valley . It is is completely insulated with wool and has a wood burning stove making it suitable for use all year round.
The lorry comprises of 2 areas. A living and kitchen area (approximately 9'x8') and a bedroom (approximately 6'x8'). The lorry is insulated with sheeps wool and clad in wood.
There is a 12v solar electrical system that that powers lights in both the kitchen and bedroom and a usb/cigarette lighter wall socket.
The kitchen has a full size gas cooker , sink and a comprehensive set of utensils and crockery. Basics such as salt, sugar, oil, vinegar and tea are provided.
There is an cool box under the lorry. There are cool blocks in the freezer in the site utility room. The kitchen has a table and 2 chairs. There is a comfy sofa next to the wood burning stove. Wood is provided for the stove.
The bedroom has a luxury wool topped double bed. The duvet and and pillows are all made from british wool and the bedding is made from 100% cotton.
There are lots of windows in the vehicle giving it a light airy feel. The windows are furnished with thick cotton curtains.
Outside the lorry there is a fire pit so you can sit and keep warm while enjoying the incredible view or cook on the open fire. There are compost loos on the site and a shower block.
Features & Facilities
Campfires allowed. The free portable showers are clean and high-pressure and there are 4 compost toilets. No marked pitches or electrical hook-ups. Facilities are few: there’s no shop or café, but you can buy firewood for campfires and home-grown veg and eggs when available. The fully-insulated Bedford MJ sleeps 2 adults on a luxury wool-topped double bed. The duvet and and pillows are all made from British wool and the bedding is made from 100% cotton. Kitchen includes proper gas cooker, sink and a comprehensive set of utensils and crockery. Basics such as salt, sugar, oil, vinegar and tea are provided. There is an electric cool box under the lorry which can be plugged in when required or cool blocks can be put in it. The kitchen has a table and 2 chairs. There is a comfy sofa next to the wood-burning stove. Wood is provided for the stove. The site can get very muddy when it rains so bring your wellies.
Fossil-hunting in nearby Charmouth is a great activity for children and adults alike. Book onto one the fascinating and informative two-hour tours led by the wardens at The Charmouth Heritage Centre on Charmouth beach and you’ll be amazed by what you can find lying around you (adults £7, children £3; 01297 560772).
Food & Drink
Wood-fired pizzas are available on site on Fridays (weather permitting) and BBQs, hog roasts and more are available by prior arrangement.
The Tytherleigh Arms (01460 220214) is the best pub around for food. It’s not cheap but a proper treat. It does a handsome roast (medium rare sirloin is always on) and amazing puds.
