The Owner Says

Designed and built as live aboard accommodation Genghis comes with everything you might need for a relaxing weekend away. With a gas cooker, hot water, shower, and a wood burning stove Genghis definitely provides the comfort need when your glamping.
Tucked away in the corner off a field on our 100 acre farm here in South Shropshire , with no-one around to share the beautiful views of the Longmynd, Genghis is the ideal place for a quiet weekend away. Whether you are cosy-ing up inside on a winters night or sitting out by the fire-pit watching the stars in the summer this space has what you need.

Because of the remote location of Genghis does not include:

Drinkable Running Water  (Bottled drinking water is included, and running water available for washing up)

Mains electricity (12v USB charger available)

Flushing Toilet (Portaloo/compost outside)

On site parking (short walk through a field)

We believe that this really adds to the feel and authenticity of your secluded getaway, but we know that this is not for everyone and want to make sure that those you want to book this fantastic space understand whats included.

Features & Facilities

At Hamperley Hideaways, we’ve kept things simple. With compost toilets, solar showers, and only USB chargers, we’ve worked hard to keep our carbon footprint down and help keep things in keeping with our ethos. For those looking at glamping, all of our units are kitted with a small kitchenette, crockery/basic cooking equipment and full bedding.

We understand that not everyone is looking for the bare necessities. And we want everyone who visits to love their stay, so, if you have any doubts or questions head over to our reviews and FAQ page to see how other quests have found their experience. And if it’s not for you and you're looking for a little more luxury in your stay, then check out our sister company Hamperley Cottages and book a fantastic stay in their homely barn conversions.

Activities

Nestled under the roaming hills of the Longmynd, in quiet south Shropshire, Hamperley Hideaways, has the ideal location for all to enjoy.  Whether you like a little ramble through country lanes, or are seeking the challenge of a long hike across the hills. Though, perhaps, you just want to sit by the fire and read a book in peace looking out upon the world - we’ve got it all covered.

Food & Drink

We’re fortunate to have a range of amazing pubs in our area all doing fantastic country pub grub.

Here’s our favourites:

Getting There

From the A49, between Shrewsbury and Ludlow (both around 15 miles away) take the B4370 towards Bishop’s Castle. After just over a mile, turn right. After a further half mile, you will reach a crossroads where you see Hamperley Farm; turn right here and after another half a mile, turn right again, through a gate and on to a stone track. This will lead you to the car park which will be signposted on the left.

There’s a railway station in Church Stretton, five miles from site. From there you can take a bus to Little Stretton and then follow quiet country lanes for the final two miles on foot to reach the campsite.
