Luxury pod glamping on the edge of the Peak District National Park

There's probably a philosophical debate to be had about when camping becomes glamping and when glamping stops being camping at all — and the set-up at the luxurious Lambs Glamping, on the edge of the Peak District, inserts itself squarely into the argument. Yes, these are glamorous camping pods, set on a mown field backed by shady woods and with horses on the neighbouring pastureland. There are only two pods, fairly close to each other but with lots of space and light, and a short drive away is one of the country's finest national parks.

So far, so camping and glamping. But hello, what's this? The whole front of the pod is glass, with double doors that open out onto a flag-stoned patio. The interior is centrally heated — yes, you heard right — and there's enough space to swing many cats in varied directions. When you get over the shock at being able to stand up straight and tall, unlike in many pods, you'll also notice that the decor has its own touch of glam about it, from a coordinated colour scheme to acres of painted and polished wood. Beds are solid and eminently sleep-able — the bunks are particularly flash, like a train sleeper-carriage — and there's a fully fitted and equipped kitchen that, though small, wouldn't look out of place in a showroom. By the time you clock the neat, hotel-style bathroom with its power shower, the wall-mounted TV, and the temperature control, you've pretty much moved beyond the whole concept of 'camping' in any of its guises. These are flash rooms in anyone's book — they just happen to be in stylish pods in a field and if you want to call it camping or glamping, that's entirely up to you.

There's little else on site, but you have the whole of the Peak District National Park unfolding just a couple of miles to the west. If you're into hiking or biking, you can reach even the further-flung, rugged attractions of Castleton, the Hope Valley, and Mam Tor in 30 to 40 minutes by car, though plenty of other trails are much closer. And with accommodation like this, a downpour or other dodgy weather isn't going to spoil the day — forget trying to dry out in a damp tent or yurt when you have a pod with a heated towel rail to come back to. Probably more in keeping with your status as a very glamorous camper are genteel days out at Chatsworth — just ten minutes down the road — or the 20-mile run out to the refined old spa town of Buxton.

Experience beautiful outreaching views right from your doorway, while situated alongside a woodland surrounded by nature. This is the place for the full glamping experience. Our fully equipped glamping pods include:
A kitchen which includes a microwave oven, kettle, hob, toaster, fridge / freezer, pots, pans, cutlery and cooking utensils.
A deluxe built in bathroom with a nice, hot and powerful shower.
Sleeping for up to 6 by means of 1 bunk bed, 1 double bed and 1 double sofa bed.

We are 2 brothers who started the site in 2015, originally as a campsite and ran it for 5 years. Then at the end of 2020, for a few various reasons, we decided to give glamping a go and managed to make a start at renting out the pods in August 2021. We started with 2 with the plans of building a third.

If you are at Old Brampton:
Follow the road westwards, drive past St Peter and St Paul church (with the church on your right hand side as you drive past it)
Keep going for about another 5 mins drive and you'll eventually see the Royal Oak pub also on your right hand side
After you've reached the pub keep going and take your next right hand turn which is at a crossroads opposite a small school
Then take your next left (there will be a sign post saying "Moorhay Farm")
