The hut sleeps four in handcrafted oak bunk beds (each bunk a full-sized double). Gas central heating will keep you warm if the nights are cold, and in the heat of summer the oak windows open to let the breeze in. There are two plugs for your electrical items, and two USB ports to charge your devices along with mains electric lights overhead.
The cosy en-suite offers a private hot shower, soft towels, and complimentary toiletries. The en-suite has a lockable door and is heated by a chrome towel rail.
You’re welcome to take the chairs and table outside if you wish to wander a little further, or use the picnic benches and log stools directly outside the huts. Our festoon bulbs light the little grove, with solar lights lining the drive. A camping lantern is provided to light your way along the paths if you’re exploring, but we don't think you can beat a campfire at night (kits are available for £5.00).
While we include tea-and-coffee making supplies, there are no cooking facilities in the huts. However our campfire kits can be exchanged for a BBQ kit if you’re looking to embrace the rural setting. The Hall has a breakfast and lunch time restaurant, and almost across the road is a lovely Italian called Mezzo which opens in the evening.
Our shepherd's huts are arranged in groves, which can be hired exclusively (subject to availability). Groups are welcome; so why not book a weekend away with friends?
In the grounds of historic Samlesbury Hall sits a gathering of colourful huts; Samlesbury Hall Hamlet... a rustic and carefree alternative to your traditional hotel room. Just as luxurious but with a rural edge, the hamlet is home to a collection of beautiful shepherd's huts, hand crafted to keep you toasty in winter and cool in the summer. Complete with two double beds in European oak, the huts boast all those little extras - memory foam mattresses, low-wattage electricity to keep your phone charged, as well as a cosy en-suite. The bathroom includes a spacious shower, hot water and soft towels, along with luxury toiletries. The huts are heated and well lit, including a camping lantern to add a rustic touch to your stay (and to light a moonlit walk). Free Wi-fi throughout the site keeps you in touch with the rest of the world, but escape is easy with a walk through the grounds of the picturesque Samlesbury Hall. Chairs and tables can be taken outside to relax around the fire-pit, or take a seat at one of our picnic benches and enjoy your supper. If you're looking to explore a little you can take the kids to the adventure trail and Mayflower playground hidden in the woodland in the grounds of the Hall, or to the mini golf course by the hamlet entrance. If the Hall's open it's completely free to visit (don't miss the sweet treats in Dottie's Wafflery!) and the award winning restaurant open for lunches only serves the finest ingredients.
Glamping Site Facilities
All three shepherd’s huts sleep four people in double bunk beds and come complete with low-wattage electricity, heating, and en-suite shower room. There’s no kitchen, but you’re welcome to rent a BBQ or fire-pit kit. Bedding, towels, and toiletries are all provided. Parking for one car is available close to each hut, with additional parking available at the entrance. If the Hall is open then you’re welcome to wander around the exhibits, visit the shop, and indulge in Dottie’s Wafflery – be sure to check the varied events calendar on their website to check what’s coming up. Kids can visit the animals, play on the woodland trail and enjoy the Mayflower play area. Groups of 20+ can even dine in the great hall by special request! Even if the hall is closed the grounds are beautiful, with a mini golf course and driving range just a minutes’ walk from your front door.
