Canvas Lodge with en-suite shower - sleeps 6
The Owner Says
We believe in simplicity, but rest assured you will not be sacrificing luxury when staying in our canvas lodges. At 45m2, our spacious lodges are placed in stunning locations and will meet your need for modern comfort and craving to be close to nature. The Canvas Lodge is suitable for 6 people, 5 adults and 1 child up to 12 years old. Our interior features a fully equipped kitchen with a wood-stove, a living/dining area, outdoor area with BBQ, and three sleeping areas with high-quality mattresses, pillows, bedding and fluffy duvets!
We are all about getting back to the simpler times away from technology and to reconnect with nature and therefore do not have electricity and wi-fi in any of our farms.
En-suite shower inside your tent
This tent has a wonderful private shower in the tent. You can step into the warm wooden bathroom that is attached to the tent. You no longer have to walk over to the farm and after you have warmed up in front of the fireplace you can step directly into your own private and cosy bathroom. Oil lamps illuminate the bathroom and provide the real Feather Down atmosphere. In the bathroom you will also find the toilet and a sink. The shower is of course heated, you don’t have to heat it up yourself. Enjoy a super cosy private shower!

Features & Facilities
Each family-sized safari tent has three rooms: a double bedroom, a bunk room and the main living space within which is a cute cupboard bed suitable for younger children. The living space also has a fully-equipped kitchen, a wood-burning stove, dining area and a sofa. You can choose between a tent with an en-suite toilet with use of a shared shower a short walk away and a tent with a complete en-suite bathroom that features a toilet, sink and hot-water shower. At both, there is running cold water to both the hand basin and the kitchen sink. There is also a sheltered veranda outside with two deck chairs, a picnic table and outdoor cooking area with a barbecue. The site also has a pizza oven and a shared undercover seating area and a well-stocked honesty shop. There's plenty of play space with playground equipment including a zip wire outside and an indoor playbarn with a trampoline, swing and hay bales to clamber about on.
The on-site indoor and outdoor play areas may be enough to keep younger children occupied but, for a change of scenery, there is a play barn (and tea room) at Old Holly Farm (01524 791200), five miles away. Other local attractions include picnicking at Abbeystead reservoir, fishing at Wyreside lakes (01524 791154), or horse-riding at the Bay Horse School of Equitation at Forton (07791 476033), just the other side of the M6. The site is on the edge of the Forest of Bowland and there are lots of great places to explore on foot or by bike and for more of the great outdoors you can be within the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales National Park within an hour. Lancaster Castle (01524 64998) and the Maritime Museum (01772 534075), are good wet weather options and both about seven miles away. The traditional seaside village of Arnside is a little over half an hour away, and four miles beyond is Morecambe. Even the bright lights of Blackpool are not too far for a visit, just 20 miles away.
Food & Drink
Wallings Farm near Cockerham (01524 793781) has an ice-cream parlour as well as a nice coffee shop and a good restaurant. The Fleece at Dolphinholme (01524 791233) serves hearty pub grub while the Bay Horse at Forton offers gastro-pub fare (01524 791204).

Leave the M6 at junction 33 taking the fi st exit off the roundabout. Take an immediate left up Hampson Lane to a T-junction, and turn right. Follow the road for 2 miles to a crossroads with the Fleece pub in front and turn left to Dolphinholme village, then continue to the first of a set of mini roundabouts. Take a sharp right into Lower Dolphinholme, go through the village and take the first lane on your left after leaving the village up a hill. You will be provided with full directions when you reserve your tent.
Reaching the site by public transport is not very easy. The closest train station is at Lancaster, 12 miles away, and the only buses that ply the route are for the local schools so run Monday-Friday and at school start and finish times.
