Nearby Cedar Farm Galleries  is home to an excellent coffee shop, art galleries and unique shops selling an array of contemporary crafts, clothing and home furnishings. It's less than a mile to the Leeds to Liverpool Canal, great for walking or cycling along the tow path or joining a boat cruise. Haigh Hall and Country Park (10 miles) has 250 acres of park and woodland you can explore, while children will love Windmill Animal Farm and Farmer Teds, both excellent family farm parks. The nearest good beaches – Southport and Formby are within a ½hr drive. As is Crosby beach, home to Anthony Gormley’s ‘Another Place’ – a hundred sculptures spread across the sand, made from casts of the artist's own body.

Food & Drink

There is a cooking box inside each tent with all the cooking utensils, crockery and things you need for a successful BBQ, 3 different sized pots and pans, wine and water glasses, mugs for tea/coffee, a cafetiere and an ice box with ice packs. D.C Scott & Sons in Ormskirk is our local, family butchers par excellence, the campsite can arrange BBQ packs for breakfast, lunch or dinner to be delivered. You can also take home a freshly harvested veg box from the farm. For other local produce Taylors Farm Shop is located just a few hundred metres down the road.  There is an array of great places to eat within a 5 minute drive, most notably The Hop Vine in Burscough (booking definitely recommended). Closer and right on the canal is The Ship and a firm favourite amongst the locals as is The Plough Inn, just 1 mile up the road.
