Situated in a private meadow above the farm, Russet sits upon larch decking with glorious views across the valley. Inside, you'll find exposed wooden latticework criss-crossing its way to the ceiling, crowned in the centre with a circular window that pools in natural light. Moroccan-style rugs, a wood-burning stove, and hand-carved bedside tables are all present and correct, but the yurt isn't lacking on modern comforts – like a Nespresso coffee machine and electricity throughout. Then there’s the plush en-suite bathroom, with an excellent shower, proper flushing loo and toiletries and towels provided. Finally, you have the ultimate luxury of a wood-fired hot tub beneath the stars – the perfect place to end your evening.

Next day, the Dorset landscape beyond provides countless options; this isn’t a place for indecisive glampers. To the east, you walk through meadows and walk over bridges to Loscombe Nature Reserve, a haven for birdlife, while to the west there’s the Half Moon pub, an equally short wander away. South, meanwhile, Dorset’s epic Jurassic Coast unfurls before you; it’s a 10-minute drive in the car – and then there’s the vibrant town of Bridport that stops you along the way.

The Owner Says

Russet sits in its own private paddock above the farm, enclosed by a long sweeping living willow fence. You have your own private sawn larch deck to the front of the yurt with a table and chairs to sit and enjoy long lazy meals or a good book - the views of the sunset over the hill are not to be missed! Below the yurt on the grass is a copper fire bowl with a barbecue grill for creating the most wonderful barbecued food, or for just setting up a campfire in style!

A superking vi-spring divan bed will ensure an unforgettable nights sleep - not to mention the lofty White Company duvets and bedlinen and stacks of pillows. An electric blanket will keep you cozy on the chillier nights, with independent controls to ensure that if two people are sharing the bed, you can each choose your warmth! The bedside tables are crafted from an Alder tree that was felled less than 100 m from the yurt. Behind the bedside table you will find a double socket with a USB charger and a bedside light. There is also another socket behind the dining table opposite the bed, with two newly upholstered and very comfortable dining chairs.

There is a double sofa bed with the most fabulous array of Moroccan and Indian cushions. It is very comfortable and even turns into a bed if you choose to share your yurt with someone or would like to bring a child, please contact me to discuss this prior to booking.

There is a little Indian tea table with a kettle, mugs, tea and coffee to ensure you can wake up slowly without having to leave the yurt. We don't provide the milk as we can't leave it sitting in the yurt prior to your arrival, however you can usually buy a pint ot two from the honesty shop in the supplies barn near where you park.

The lovingly crafted en-suite bathroom is nothing short of a masterpiece with beautifully soft strip lighting (you'll see what we mean!) and the most wonderful sleek but rustic feel. With a piping hot shower, proper flushing loo and basin with overhead lit mirror, we don't think you could want for more.

Tucked within the Cherry Orchard below Russet, you will find The Walnut Kitchen, which is a fully equipped yurt tucked within the cherry orchard overlooking our south facing valley, a stones throw from the yurt. The Kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, gas range cooker, sink, cupboard space and all the cooking utensils and crockery we think you will need to make it a delight to use. There is a huge copper fire bowl outside the The Walnut Kitchen for barbecues to die for and a campfire afterwards.

We have a wood fired hot tub that you are welcome to use during your stay. It costs £35 per day and we can get it ready for you. We can host a pizza evening in our wood fired pizza oven for you using local ingredients for £15 for adults and £7.50 for children. Both the Hot Tub and Pizza Oven can be booked in advance or once you have arrived.

Features & Facilities

The yurts features a king-sized bed (all bedding and linen supplied), bedside tables, chairs, a sofa, a wood-burning stove and an Indian tea table with tea, coffee, kettle and cups. There is usually milk available to buy in the supplies barn if you need. The yurt has a well-lit en suite, with hot shower, proper flushing loo and basin with mirror. Electricity throughout with bedside sockets and USB chargers. A separate fully equipped Yurt Kitchen has a fridge freezer, gas range cooker, sink, units and all the utensils and crockery you will need, plus a clay pizza oven outside. There is a huge copper fire bowl for barbecuing and sitting around outside the Yurt Kitchen, together with a smaller fire bowl at your 'bedroom' yurt. The hot tub is in the orchard by the kitchen and available for private use by occupants of either yurt – there is an extra charge (per day) for use of the hot tub.
