Magical, secluded glamping in the Wye Valley, yards from the Offas Dyke trail

Traditional Yurt. Hideaway Hut. Camping Cabin. Gypsy Camp.

Each of these spaces have been created using upcycled materials, naturally made, as if they have magically grown out of their surroundings. They are on the edge of sunny dry stone walled paddocks, skirting the ancient mossy woodland that is Hudnalls nature reserve.

The spaces are designed for adults, secluded, each space has its own privacy. Peaceful, Self contained, we provide everything you need, for all weathers, so you can pack light.

Embrace the outdoors while nestled in your big warm bed, from which you can gaze at the tree canopy. Each accommodation, has a fully equip kitchen, a woodfired hot tub, open air hot shower, separate loo, breakfast included.

We are in an AONB, on the Offa’s Dyke Path, and Wye Valley ramble. So many Footpaths for you and your dog to explore. We provide maps and route to local pub.

Canoe the River Wye, mountain bike the Forest of Dean. Fill up with fresh air, daydream, listen to birdsong, forest bathe, gaze at the stars.

Gypsy Caravan with bathhouse
Perfect break away
Anna's Gypsy caravan was the perfect break away. It was so quiet up there, all you could hear in the evenings was the wildlife and the rain, which was very relaxing. The land around the caravan was a beautiful walk, we even bumped into some deer! Waking up to the sound of roosters and seeing cows out your front door was something else. Would definitely go back

Gypsy Caravan with bathhouse
My partner and I loved staying in the gypsy caravan for our wedding anniversary. It felt very secluded while having everything we wanted plus more. The bath house was a lovely way to relax on a breezy evening and the bed was so comfy. Was great being right next to the Offa's Dyke footpath too. Would recommend for a cosy stay!

Camping Cabin
A perfect escape, with easy access to the beautiful Wye Valley, would recommend a trip to Symonds yat East for hiring a canoe by the hour for a trip up the river. The Shepard’s hut and hot tub is perfect with everything provided but would suggest taking bath robes, extra towels and footwear for moving around the hot tub, to the hut and toilet as other guests can walk by on the way to their accommodation.

Hideaway Hut on edge of woodland
The most peaceful, idyllic place
Absolutely loved my stay here. Stayed with my dog and loved the hut itself, incredible king sized bed, nice seating area near the window to relax, everything needed inside. Beautiful woodland views from the side window. The outdoor shower was the nicest I've ever had and an experience in itself, and nice to have a private compost toilet too. The grounds were large enough to walk your dog on, and having the Offas Dyke path right outside the main gate was fantastic for a keen hiker. Lots of local walks, and things to see, such as the castle, church, local pub. We also visited Tintern Abbey and walked down the breathtaking River Wye in Chepstow. Anna is also such a nice person and can't wait to return in the near future. Felt quite sad leaving.

Nearby attractions

Oak Cottage is situated on the Offas Dyke Path and the Wye Valley Ramble, so there are plenty of walking and cycling trails on your doorstep. Hire canoes for a day of adventure on the Wye (all hire outlets let you hire for half or full days and pick you up downstream, so you need only drift along with the current). Tintern is a 10-minute drive away, home to several pubs as well as a vineyard, brewery and the gothic Tintern Abbey in all its roofless beauty. If you’re a Netflix fan, you might also want to visit the main filming spots from Sex Education, all nearby – The house Otis lives in with his mum is just up the road from Oak Cottage and so is the corner shop they regularly visit; Anna will happily give you directions to both if you fancy trying your luck at getting a cameo role! And for the film buffs, the Forest of Dean is around a 20-minute drive away; J.K. Rowling lived here as a child, likely why it features in the film version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, as well as other films like King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

Food and drink

The Miners (01594836632) in Sling is a 15-minute drive away; the gastropub has won lots of awards for their modern British food made from local produce and is made even better when paired with their servings of local ale. Owner, Steve, has worked with some of the best chefs in the country, and it shows. The oak-beamed Globe Inn (01594528300) in Alvington is under five minutes away in the car or a little more than a half-hour walk. It has a cosy log fire in winter and a good beer garden in summer. The Ostrich Inn (01594833260) in Clearwell takes around 20 minutes to reach. It's dog friendly and has a large walled garden and outdoor patios for enjoy the summer sunshine.
