Luxurious bell tent glamping in an idyllic meadow – Herefordshire Glamping is the very essence of rest & relaxation

Sun-drenched, yellow-dappled wildflower meadows; lush undulating fields of green; bejewelled dragon-flies performing feats of aerial mastery – the Herefordshire countryside is just so utterly, absurdly idyllic. No area typifies this more than the little pockets of pastoral perfection to the south-west of Leominster. Just south of the River Arrow, outside the larger village of Ivington, lies the dainty (or should that be 'perfectly proportioned') Aulden, home to the county's best kept secret, Herefordshire Glamping.

Nestled within this bucolic bolthole, Herefordshire Glamping is three acres of rolling meadows a stone's throw from the tranquil babbling of Honeylake Brook. Wild and buttercup-strewn in the spring, soft and well-kempt in the summer, this truly is a camping field for all seasons.

The twin five-metre bell tents are pristine, airy and spacious. Both come fully equipped with all you can need for both a night of sweet repose (kingsize beds, cosy duvets, feather pillows and a toasty wood-burner) and a leisurely rise (toaster, cafetière and "proper coffee").

The quality of of service at Herefordshire Glamping is conscientious to the last. Chirpy hosts Moira and David are on hand to help with everything from a directions to the Welsh Marches to the correct pronunciation of nearby Shrewsbury (only the non-natives call it "Shrowsbury"), to a lend of a corkscrew for that (second) chilled bottle of Chardonnay on your very own veranda.

The pace of life is lazy here and that's the way it should be. Surveying the rolling fields, with the scent of Ludlow sausages wafting from the grill, the heady vows to "leave it all behind" are almost palpable in this quintessentially English of scenes.

Alleymoor  is our home and we have about three acres that include a pig pen, a polytunnel with lots of veg beds and we're surrounded by farmland with far reaching views to the Clee Hills. Guests always comment on the 'big skies'.

The Glamping is a gloriously cosy bell tent in the meadow so you have plenty of socially distanced peace and quiet. The tent is furnished with a king-size bed, feather duvets pillows and have wood-burning stoves. Just a few metres away are the shower, loos and fully-equipped kitchen area with everything you need – cafetieres, a kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave with crockery and cutlery galore. Even though you are spending nights under canvas, there is a heated shower room, proper flushing loos and somewhere to plug in the hair straighteners. No electricity in tents but plenty of power points in the kitchen. The deck has a table and chairs outside. No campfires but we do have firepits for that all important marshmallow toasting.

Suitable For

We're understated, simple but oh so comfortable! We're all about proper escapism, peace, quiet - the chance to sit and stare and chat to each other over a glass of wine.

In 2021 we're continuing to offer a stress free, Covid-secure stay which means that you'll have the space to yourselves.

The cottage is perfect for couples who just want to chill for a couple of days.

We love a celebration stay and we are a popular spot for birthdays, anniversaries and mini-moons. We've even been witness to three engagements. Dogs – no. Sorry. We have two cats who would pack up and leave home as well as assorted chickens, ducks, pigs and sheep.

We don't host weddings or parties.

The historic Wye market town of Ludlow boasts an enchanting mix of medieval and Tudor architecture. Try and visit for the annual Ludlow Arts Festival every June. Vibrant cathedral city Hereford has a wealth of gorgeous Jacobean attractions – be sure to drop by The Old House (01432 260694) and The Hereford Cider Museum (01432 354207). The site is ideally placed to acces the Black and White Trail and numerous other walking and cycling routes. Berrington Hall andCroft Castle  are fabulous NT properties with beautiful grounds. Pretty market town of Ledbury is about thirty minutes away. Hereford Cathedral with it's world famous Mappa Mundi and the Cider Museum are great for overcast days. Malvern and the home of Elgar are about 40 minutes away with the Malvern Hills a popular place to walk.

Food & Drink

If you can muster up the energy to head out, Hereford is about 12 miles away and  home to some AMAZING independents. It's had a huge surge and has transformed into a bit of a foodie heaven - The Beefy Boys, Sensory & Rye, The Bookshop, Thaitastic Thai, Broad Street Pizza, The Burger Shop, King Street Kitchen - all delicious!

There are plenty of decent pubs nearby.  This part of the world is famous for it's ales and of course Herefordshire is the home of cider (sorry Somerset!) Be sure to sample a drop of Wye Valley Brewery 'Butty Bach' – Welsh for "little mate" and Newton Court's Gasping Goose!

We're always happy to help find you a place to go - whether you just fancy a fish & chip supper or want somewhere a little more special to celebrate an occasion you just have to ask.

April – end of September.

The Owner Says

We are set down a peaceful country lane in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside. We have just one tent - so small and understated - along with our completely self-contained one bedroom cottage. Although we aren't a 'party palace' we're perfect place to gather together a few of your favourite people and enjoy a few nights chatting over a glass of wine, watching the sunset and relaxing!

The tent is set on a raised wooden deck with a proper king-sized bed, proper duvet, pillows and crisp white sheets and a wood burner for chilly nights. You have your own BBQ along with a table and chairs for dining alfresco plus a small, well stocked kitchen with just about everything you need to rustle up a good dinner, along with two flushing loos and a hot shower.

We do welcome mini-glampers to the Glamping Meadow and can set up single beds with linen and duvets. We keep pigs over most summers so entertainment is often supplied by them! Who doesn't love rubbing a pigs belly! :-)

We buffed and polished the cottage during Lockdown 3.0 for year round breaks away from it all. It's adults only and has everything you'd expect from us - a kingsized bed, cosy throws, a well stocked kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine and big fridge/freezer. And, although we say 'put away the devices and chat' we've added WiFi and a good TV with Netflix so you can spend long, lazy afternoons hunkered down with a classic film.

Social Distancing Measures

We have just two bell tents in our Glamping meadow. We will ensure that there is ample antibacterial cleaner available to guests at all times. We are pretty fastidious about cleaning anyway but will step things up a notch..

We will only welcome one tent at a time unless you come as a group of friends or extended family and book both of our beautiful bell tents. That way you aren't worrying about social distancing and can just kick back and relax with the place to yourselves! Something we all need to do after the bonkers start to 2021.

We use a professional laundry service for our bed linens & towels

We hope you understand the reasoning behind this - our greatest wish will always that you have a relaxed, stress-free, peaceful break away from real life and, after many, many chats, we both feel this year we want to make things as simple as we can

Two canvas bell tents set on wooden decks- far enough apart to be private but close enough for groups of friends to get together.

David & Moira are your hosts and we actively encourage you to put away the phone - sit, chat, have a glass of wine and just catch your breath. There are just two tents set in three acres of beautiful, peaceful Herefordshire countryside where the only noise you'll probably hear are birds, or cows munching in the field next door.

We make up a proper king sized bed with white cotton bed linen and snuggly feather duvets along with towels, glasses, crockery, cutlery and lots of kitchen utensils. The kitchen has a fridge, toaster, microwave -all you need to bring are your toothbrush and a good book. The tents have wood burners and the bathroom has proper flushing loos and a hot shower. No compost toilets here!  There isn't electricity in the tents but there are sockets in the kitchen for phones & hair straightners - you are Glamping after all!
