The word we hear the most when someone first steps into our Canvas Cottages is “WOW” and that’s for good reason.
Each beautiful and romantic Canvas Cottage is like no other glamping experience you have seen before. Features include hardwood floors, custom wooden furniture, a wood burning stove, cooking facilities, full length mirror, clothes rails, blanket chest, en-suite bathroom and much more.
Your king size bed with memory foam mattress and luxurious soft pillows will be made up with luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets, pillow cases and hypo-allergenic duvet. The wood burning stove provides more than enough heat to keep you warm, but the added luxury of a hot water bottle will help take away the chill, even on the coldest of nights.
Stepping into your very own private en-suite bathroom is an experience like no other – features include hardwood flooring, solar lighting, instant hot water shower, hot and cold running water, modern eco-friendly toilet, mirror, and a towel rail. On your arrival you will find luxurious fluffy white bath and hand towels and plenty of biodegradable toiletries for you to use, including soap, shampoo, body wash and conditioner.
Outside on your large private wooden deck are a gas powered BBQ and patio heater, and a bistro dining set with comfy chairs for eating, relaxing and taking in the beautiful surroundings.
A large parasol or sail covers most of the deck, ensuring you can use all the facilities, regardless of the weather. We provide plenty of throw blankets so you can snuggle up on those colder Scottish nights, and solar lighting keeps the deck lit so you can sit and enjoy the outdoor life – Glampotel style – as long as you wish.
Inside the kitchenette you will find everything you need to prepare and eat a delicious outdoor meal, including pots and pans, utensils, glasses, crockery and cutlery for the whole family, and of course a kettle for making a fresh cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate.
Solar power ensures you have light when you need it, and sufficient USB outlets to charge your electronic devices.
Tea, coffee, sachet milk, and bottled water will all be in your Canvas Cottage on arrival.
Free parking is available for Glampotel guests, close to your Canvas Cottage for ease. With Edinburgh City Centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, only a short drive away, you can experience and enjoy all that the City has to offer. With a wealth of places of interest, small villages, activities, historical landmarks and stunning countryside in the surrounding area, you will never be short of things to do. Alternatively, sit back, relax and enjoy the Dundas Glampotel experience!
Glampotel Dundas Castle was the first Glampotel site in Scotland and sets the standard for bell tent glamping, with luxury Canvas Cottages set in the most incredible castle setting just outside of Edinburgh city.
Glampotel Dundas Castle is a collaboration with estate owners, Sir Jack and Lady Lydia Stewart-Clark, and is undoubtedly the most prestigious and exclusive glamping location in Scotland. The glamping glade has a limited number of luxury five-star Canvas Cottages, ensuring your experience of the Dundas estate remains tranquil, peaceful and unspoilt.
And what a place this is. The Canvas Cottages are set beside the loch of the beautiful 400-acre Dundas Castle estate, tucked away within their own secluded wooded knoll, with peaceful surroundings and breath-taking views across the waters. What better way to awaken in the morning than to the sounds of the birds and rustling of the trees? As the dawn moves into morning, sit in bed, looking out directly over the Castle’s Loch and watch the ducks, swans and herons before enjoying breakfast on the private dining deck.
We have 10 canvas cottages available in total, including a dog friendly unit and a disabled access unit. Children can stay for free, too, so you can enjoy a relaxing holiday with the whole family.
Canvas Cottages offer the utmost luxury, while still providing the spirit of the great outdoors. As the name suggests, Glampotel is all about providing a glamping experience with a hotel-level of style. In the Canvas Cottages, expect comfortable beds, Egyptian cotton linen and beautiful wooden furniture. Outside, there is a deck with a gas BBQ, while every Canvas Cottage also has its own en-suite bathroom – fully functional toilets, porcelain sinks, instant hot water shower, large mirrors and plenty of towels and biodegradable toiletries – all the products you would expect to find in a luxury boutique hotel.
The castle provides a magnificent backdrop for strolls within the grounds, although please note that the Castle itself is not available for visitors or tours. Beyond the grounds, of course, there is also plenty to do. Being only 15 minutes from Edinburgh International Airport and a short drive from Edinburgh City Centre (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Glampotel Dundas Castle offers unbeatable Edinburgh access and is within reach of a plethora of things to do and places to see.
