Luxury pods with extra special touches, sandwiched between the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales National Park

You can’t help but be a little jealous of the Brennand Family. They’ve woken up amid this stunning, stonewall-lined landscape for no fewer than three generations. And while the world thumps on with mobile phones, computers and fingertip gadgetry, the views here are as timeless as they’ve ever been. In fact, while the farm may border one designated area of natural beauty – the Forest of Bowland AONB – it’s less than two miles to the nearest national park, too. So whether you’re a walker, mountain biker or simply want some snaps of the scenery, the choices are pretty endless.

Perched in a private area of the Brennands' dairy farm – away from the tractors and working yard – are five insulated, cedar-clad pods. All have an excellently equipped kitchenette, a double bed and sofa bed, a deck and a fire pit outside but there are some important differences to help you choose the pod that's right for you. Step outside the two Green Top pods and you'll find a sheltered hot tub and a private bathroom, with a shower, toilet and basin, a few steps away. The Silver Top Pod meanwhile, has no hot tub, but is fully en-suite, for those who just can’t handle the stroll. It also boasts a top-drawer barbecue so is perfect for glampers who love their food. The top level of luxury goes, as you might expect, to the two Gold Top pods. How so? They have both en suite bathrooms and hot tubs.

It’s more like compact, self-catered living than camping when you’re cocooned away inside your pod, especially if it’s raining outside and you’ve got dinner simmering on the hob. But once you fling open the double-glazed doors, you feel very much a part of the great outdoors. Logs are provided for your fire pit, so you can toast marshmallows on the terrace as the sun sets over the Yorkshire hills, but very often guests head for The Hub. This covered communal area is very much the heart of the place with games to play and an enviable outdoor kitchen featuring a wood-fired oven to cook fresh pizzas and a Weber barbecue. It’s an excellent spot to socialise and offers some of the best views on site.

Walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers are the most obvious folk to capitalise on the area, so it’s no surprise that the Brennands have provided every pod with a boot box and offer a power hose and wall racks for bike maintenance. Spin a few miles west to Gisburn Forest for award-winning mountain biking trails or simply stride out on the footpath from the farm. It’s all on your pod-step, which ever direction you choose.

Corn Bents
We had a wonderful few days at Peaks and Pods and came home feeling relaxed and recharged. Its a beautiful site with wonderful views across the Dales. The pod was charming, comfortable and clean, John and Jo had thought of everything we would need and provided lots of really helpful information about the site and places to go nearby. The Hub provides all the extra facilities you need as well as places to sit, cook and socialise - we really enjoyed making our own wood fired pizzas one night. We couldn’t recommend this lovely place enough and will definitely be going back as soon as we can.

Corn Bents
Perfect Peaceful Pod!!
Fantastic location with spectacular views & so peaceful. Our Pod (Corn Bents) & hot-tub was perfect in every way - faultless. Even a mix of weather could not ruin the mood! The Hub is a fantastic extra communal space and I loved relaxing in the swinging chair. In rain and sunshine! Lovely long walk into Settle too & highly recommend a BBQ with the local Hellifield beef! Can only recommend 💯%!! Plus very easy check in and very responsive and helpful hosts.

On Top of The World
Corn Bents pod has breathtaking views of North Yorkshire. With an ever changing vista there is no need to go anywhere else although there are lots of exciting places to explore nearby. The pod was extremely well equipped and communications were excellent. I will be back!!

The Folds
Peaceful Pods
We stayed in The Folds pod, and it was perfect! It has everything you need for an enjoyable stay - comfy bed and sitting area, amazing covered outdoor seating area with lovely views over the rolling fields and hills. The little touches like the 'welcome cake' and the free wood for the first fire topped it off (great lemon drizzle!) . The Hub area is amazing too with pizza oven and seating area, would be ideal with a group of friends or family. Not far from loads of great trails for running, walking, biking etc, and nice villages. Would 100% recommend Peaks & Pods!

From the host
We're Joanne and John and we have opened up a corner of our dairy farm between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. Three generations of our family live and work on the farm and we have put our hearts and souls into creating a bespoke, luxury glamping experience for our outdoor-loving guests. Our luxury pods are specially-designed to be used all year round, with heating, insulation, double glazing and indoor cooking. You will never feel the cold, or experience broken tent poles and soggy sleeping bags. This is glamping at its best! At Peaks and Pods we welcome families, couples, friends, cyclists, walkers, countryside lovers and outdoor enthusiasts who want to experience an exciting new place to stay. The five pods are kitted out with private shower rooms, fully-equipped kitchenettes, pocket-sprung double beds, feather and down duvets and pillows, memory-foam sofa beds, tables and chairs, decked areas, private outdoor spaces with shelters and outdoor dining tables. You can even opt for your own hot tub at four of the pods, all under cover. There's great mobile phone signal, free Wi-Fi and Smart TVs. Each pod has its own fire pit on the patio, which doubles as a barbecue with grill and poker, except at The Folds which has its own Weber charcoal barbecue. Our unique, ranch-style Hub area offers guests a wonderful social space to relax, cook, light a fire, enjoy fresh pizzas cooked in our stunning gas-fired Dome pizza oven, and take in the stunning views. There's a great atmosphere at night with festoon and fairy lights and you'll create memories you'll never forget. Visiting cyclists will find first-class facilities for washing, repairing and securely storing their bikes on-site. There's also a laundry, where guests can wash, dry and iron, and you'll find outdoor games and information leaflets too. We're a 'green' business and have a Gold Award from Green Tourism. Electricity is provided by a wind turbine and solar panels, our hot tubs are heated using air source heat pumps and renewable energy. We encourage our guests to recycle and we provide environmentally-friendly cleaning products in every pod. We believe that it is important that you can tailor-make your own experience, adding as many or as few extras as you want. Our extras allow every stay to be totally bespoke - perfect for your own needs.

Most trails start from Gisburn Forest Hub (01200 446747) with car park, toilets, picnic area and café. While you're there, a walk round the beautiful reservoir is a must. Excellent local market towns include Settle, Clitheroe, Skipton and Kirkby Lonsdale – all only a short journey away. Hop aboard a waggon on the Settle-Carlisle Railway (01729 825888) – England's most scenic train line is the claim – or take on the famous walking routes around Malham Cove and Tarn, where you can hop across the unique limestone rocks like a bug on giant puzzle pieces.
